Banana Mango Cream Smoothie

We've been trying to eat healthy around our house, much to my husband's dismay. He is not a huge fan of my salad-for-every-meal plan, so we've compromised and started making smoothies for breakfast or lunch sometimes.

One of our FAVORITES is this Banana Mango Cream smoothie:

1 small-ish banana. Or, if you're really hungry, 2 bananas (It's a smoothie, they're pretty hard to mess up)

At least 1 1/2 cups (ish) frozen mango chunks OR frozen peaches OR a mixture of both.

4oz lowfat vanilla yogurt - I used this kind from Aldi that is a probiotic yogurt. Try to make sure this is NOT chock-full of added sugar. You could also use a vanilla Greek yogurt.

1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk, or skim milk.

3/4 cup low-calorie orange juice (I use Aldi's version of Trop50)

1 Tbsp honey

4-5 packets splenda

1/2 scoop vanilla whey protein powder

1 1/2 cups cubed ice

I add the fruit to the blender and then pour the liquids over them (milk, yogurt, OJ, honey), and then pour the powders on top (protein powder, Splenda/Stevia). Start blending and carefully stir to make sure it all gets blended. Then add ice to bulk up the portions and give it that nice, cold, creamy-yet-frosty consistency.

This is seriously so good and knowing that all of the ingredients are good for you makes it even better!

The protein powder really helps keep you full, but it does add calories, so if you're looking to use this as more of a snack and not a meal, you could leave it out. Then again, you could use a full scoop if you are looking to really get a protein-packed treat!

Next time you are in the mood for a smoothie, try this one out!
