Thankfulness Catch-up

Not to be confused with "Catsup" or "Ketchup". Hopefully you know the difference.

November 12 : I'm thankful for ... a fun weekend that wasn't jam-packed with busyness. I get really weary of running to and fro and never having time off to do something fun just for the heck of it. I'm kind of a mixed bag, I guess, because I really like having plans, but I'm an introvert at heart and I start to get worn out pretty quickly when my whole entire life feels over-scheduled. I probably have less capacity for busyness than the average person, but I've just learned that me without plenty of margin and down-time = not a happy camper. So - I'm thankful that we got a weekend to do some fun stuff with our families.

November 13 : I'm thankful that ... we left Stella out on our screened in porch off our bedroom while we went to church on Sunday. We've left here out there several times and never had any problems. However, this Sunday, Loren found the back porch empty and the screen on the door had been ripped out. From the looks of it, she probably didn't even have to try very hard to get the screen to come apart, but sure enough at some point in the morning she got loose. I'm pretty sure she didn't even wander out of the yard, because I found her on the back deck - thrilled to see me and wagging her little tail! Needless to say, I was VERY thankful that everything turned out fine. Plus as an added bonus, we are getting a new vinyl door on the back porch so the little stinker can't escape again!

November 14 : I'm thankful for ... my crock pot. What a wonderful, magical little invention! And how is it possible that everything you put into it comes out so moist and delicious? I have no idea how it's possible, but I'm super thankful because with hardly any effort we had dinner one night and lunch for the next day! I made this meal, and made sure I used low fat cheese and low-fat/low-sodium cream of chicken soup to reduce the less-than-desirable stats.

November 15 : I'm thankful for ... our fire pit. We had my parents and my sister and her fiance out to our place a few nights ago, and we all sat out on our back deck around the fire and drank coffee (a Whitehead family favorite). It was delightful. Something about sitting around a fire is just so cozy - especially with blankets and warm fuzzy socks. Perfect fall evening.

November 16 : I'm thankful for ... parables. I have been reading through the Bible in one year, and I've never been more thrilled to be reading through the Gospels! As I read through the stories of Jesus' life on earth, I have been so challenged by the parables. Some of them are confusing. But some of them are clear as day and very convicting. I'm very thankful that no matter how many times I have read or heard the stories in the Bible, God still chooses to use His Word to accomplish His work in my heart. May I have eyes to see and ears to hear! (Matthew 13:16)
